Public Education

Our wide-ranging public education programme is designed to promote a greater understanding of the plant and fungal kingdoms, and the work of the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. We cater for many different audiences, from the visiting public to enthusiastic gardeners, professional scientists and horticulturalists.

Courses and study days

A series of short courses and individual study days covering a variety of botanical, horticultural and plant-related subjects are run each year.

Trails

Self-guided trails, providing a route around the gardens at Kew and Wakehurst Place, and linking plants or buildings.

Events and exhibitions

Themed events and exhibitions at Kew and Wakehurst Place featuring many different aspects of the gardens and their collections.

Climbers and Creepers

Children visiting the Gardens can learn about plants through play in our unique interactive learning area - Climbers and Creepers. They can see what it is like to be eaten by a Venus Fly Trap or slide down a giant pitcher plant!

Information sheets

Information sheets about particular plants, projects and buildings, which supply more in-depth facts and information.

Labels and panels

Labels and panels located on site which interpret plantings and activities within the gardens, to enhance visitors' enjoyment of their time at Kew and Wakehurst Place.
